Dilworth Big Sing 2019

We join a 32-student contingent from Dilworth on the road to the Big Sing, a choral competition which saw 24 choirs and over 800 vocalists converge on the Dunedin Town Hall.

The Dilworth group call themselves Fortissimo, a musical term for the loudest of dynamics. Their voices are loud, and their school spirit is just as strong.

There’s pride, mana, and a good dose of nerves. And at the end of the day, there’s a Silver medal, a Runner Up for Most Outstanding Performance of a Single Work, and the Ministry for Youth Development’s Young Ambassador’s Award for the choir that embodies the spirit of leadership, community engagement and the spirit of the festival.
